Hate to say it but this is all because humans are greedy and insufferable. His feats are what brings his captures every time he meets authority figures. If Grandpa has proper guidance to navigate this traitorous world he might be more sensitive to malice and may avoid them better. And you readers blame him still? Victim blaming at the peak.
