Looks like I was completely right lol. She had no interest in killing the barbarians.
The gamers curse its slow steady progress right up to you get butt kicked then like the old comic of the skinny guy getting sand kicked in his face its “frack risk imma bulk up and get REVENGE”.
Well, that was a weak way to move the plot. I understand doing the Deus Ex Machina trope but I hate it (especially twice now) because it takes away the character’s avenue, in this case, to show his “pro Barbarian experience” and at the end, he needed to be save by plot armor, “Another party is luckily there with a potion / She doesn’t kill Barbarians“. It’s weak storytelling. They could’ve done something like a life-and-death battle, MC and Aynar won by the inch of their lives, and realize they needed to be strong and go to Rupture. Anything other than our MC being spared/saved by plot armor.
