so i’am gonna make a guess and say that the curse on the rucandles placed by the gods so they can’t use magic has faded with passing time but it still stands as a binding contract in legal sense. so a rucandle can/could use magic but it’s forbidden because of that. it would bring the wrath of the zipples or whatever.
the zipples know it too and have an eye on them i would guess to see if they brake the contract so they can punish them with a legitimate reason without any repercussion from empire or whatever is the top dog.
Just so we’re clear the deal was made so rude candles won’t use magic, the gods cursed rude candles from birth after the first patriarch to uphold this deal, past Jin wasn’t a rude candle when using magic he struck from the family but now Soul Dirt canceled that and every curse in this life so it doesn’t matter if he can use magic BUT THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE 2 FAMILIES HAS BEEN BROKEN!!!! This is why those learn magic are punished because there are ways to lift curses other than GODS you numbskulls.
So MC’s dad did know “shadow force means MC is a spellsword like 1st Patriarch”? Why does Runcandel Clan punish members who use magic instead of covering for them like he does for MC?
Zeifl Clan has MANY Gods while Runcandel Clan had only Shadow God (until 1st Patriarch’s death)?
I guess past MC could use magic because sword talent curse accidentally dispelled Zeifl magic seal?

I’m still waiting (since the first chapters) for the explanation as to why Jin Runcanel could use magic in his previous life before becoming a contractor of Soldret, which nullifies all curses.
That is, if it really is a curse of the bloodline, which blocks magic developement. The storytelling is really muddled. Remember when Jin got called because apparently he used magic? But why would he, if a Runcanel can’t use magic to begin with? Even the patriarch seriously asked, if that power was magic. The only logical conclusion is that Runcanels can use magic, but it is forbidden.
The only way to solve this paradoxon is to assume that the second generation of Runcanels couldn’t use magic and the descendants of them could again, but it is since then forbidden.
Do you have a better explanation?
