I get why, and I understand that in the past, and a few places in the present, arranged marriages between children are accepted… especially among yee olden royalty. It leaves an oddly sour taste in my mouth whenever I see manga, manhwa, anime (whatever you call it) following suit. It just feels like a thinly veiled pedophilic fantasy, and it unsettles me.

You know, a way to fix this generic plot would be to have the king be aware that MC is powerful before hand. For example, that the adventurers guild notified the king that a 5 year old beat up a member. That would put him on a watch list, and when this incident happened they would just implement their plans.
