Kind of hard to tell with anime art but I think she may have punctured his carotid artery. Would explain all the blood but not fatal if it is just a tiny poke. People get needles in their carotid artieries for medical reasons. Would go to show how good she is with a sword to know where it is and stab it instantly without killing him.
That was interesting… in the novel, there’s only one big change and that’s when she’s speaking about him.

The villain is the antagonist the other side of the coin, equally important as the protagonist. In fact who’s the protagonist is merely the point of view from which the story ist told… And since he’s living the life of nix, he already is the protagonist. What he needs is an antagonist.. and since he now seems to go against the empire and the obvious corrupt price the prince and his affiliated people now are the antagonist.
