Page 16 hit me like a truck. I didn’t expect that.
This is why for all the Hair Monsters and Island of the Luffy Renterou, this is actually a very good rom-com manga, with genuine feels. Not every chapter, but at least once a volume we get a story that is so very human that it makes you care deeply about these collection of quirks and syndromes.
That morning panel with Mimimi’s hurt and anger glaring out of her eyes and Shizuka’s “why is she taking to me that big scary robot” you can feel Nano’s pain and guilt. And then both Shizuka and her hand reaching out and Renterou’s chasing her down, that this group was always meant to be together (is future Nano more powerful than the Love God?)…genuine connection to these insane characters. Both artist and writer get a huge round of applause from me!

Given all the absolutely absurd things the harem has experienced to this point, Nano should easily be able to explain things without anyone doubting her. Compared to the world being covered in hair, or the sky island, this isn’t that more ridiculous.

This may seem like a weir comp, but one of the best episodes of My Little Pony FIM was “Do Princesses Dream of Electric Sheep.” Princess Luna chooses to punish herself nightly with nightmare to atone for her crimes as Nightmare Moon. A fantastic treatment of living in the present and embracing the forgiveness of others. I think Nano here is one of the best and most heartbreaking chapters of anything i ve seen since then in talking about that struggle.
