Seems to me like someone from their side is from where Arthur is from. Could be someone he killed in his previous life back to have an epic final battle.

Sucks to find out the spies have stolen your tech, but it still makes little sense to think that with the speed of instant teleportal gates they would want to spend weeks or months crossing an ocean on ships that would take so long to build in the first place. The resources of building materials, humanoids to build the ships for years, stockpiles of fuel, food, and fresh water for ship provisions of people and beasts to survive the long trips, and risk of weather or sea monster types of obstacles should all make this a poor choice compared to the portals they set up already for an invasion into that beast swamp area.
