That is indeed the case in older mmo’s. At least, for the people in the know. Since it was before youtube and easy web guides sharing where and how.
The level above that was having friends with a max level caster who could enchant all of that beginner stuff so it had bonus magic effects & was 30% better.
But then there were also quirks in those older games, where even if you were max level in high level top tier gear, you could still be killed by a level 1 mob if you weren’t paying attention…
While most mmos nowadays give you a huge baby level handicap preventing you from being damaged by a level 1 like that even if your char is naked&afk.

Well, they could tryna find lowbie alchie and power level them up, just like how he train his luck lady….but yeah, finding one that’s pretty much loyal is kinda hard 
That mini sailor hat would look better in light blue!
Why don’t they just ask the noble they’re friends with and have saved multiple times
