Art is pretty good. Character expressions are well done. Some of the characters act a bit too tropey sometimes (like the classic neglectful and prideful father and oddly terrible sibling), and some of the twists seem to come out of nowhere, but the author tries to pull in the reigns after each arc to show a better side to some of the more shallow “bad” guy characters. Not great on that portion, but not the worst.

The part that shines through here is the power progression and the team work with character skills. Others have mentioned how this might be a broken game. That may be true, but I’m at least glad that this is a game world, and the character develops throughout using game logic.

You ever read an isekai where it’s like “oh this is a game I used to play” and then the main character uses some world knowledge and then never uses any of the game mechanics? This story does it the “game” justice. Each thing he does is based on some kind of game knowledge. And while in some stories the use of the game knowledge does not feel earned and mostly out the butt, in this story, they do a great job with him explaining things, and utilizing the knowledge to do work to achieve things.

And when it comes to the action with the game skills, it’s a lot of fun. Rather than just flashy lights and colors that don’t mean anything, there are combos, and intricate explorations in how certain people use certain skills. It feels like a truly lived in game world, and I appreciate that. I think it’s rare to see not only a decent semi-hard magic/skill system and then for the author to use it in interesting and fun ways. So often we end up in just random invincible skills and “strongest person wins” scenarios.

The story is… a bit boring. Beyond the progression and exploration of the dungeons there isn’t a lot when it comes to outside the dungeon scenarios. I wish there was a bit more heart, but judging by the initial couple of arcs with the MCs father, and then the FMCs past team, and first dungeon, this isn’t really meant for heart. So don’t expect Frieren or Faraway Paladin levels of writing here for characters. Think more like Log Horizon or Overlord. I kind of stopped for a bit because there wasn’t a cohesive motivating line that kept me interested in their growth. But I’m writing this as a binge catch-up cause it’s entertaining enough.

Overall it’s okay. Nothing that made me FEEL, but entertaining nonetheless. And at least it’s a consistent release as well. If you like isekai, and you like somebody utilizing game knowledge, and tactical fights, this is probably up your alley.

Also no harem, and no slavery justification.
