and the oddest blend of 3D and 2D animation ive ever seen.
episode 5 spends its last 10 minutes with re-angled dialogue scenes rehashed.
for a 23:40 episode. thats 2min of opening reminders and credits. another 5min
of panning art scenes. then 8 mins of main story line then 10mins of frustrating bs.
then then last minutes of closing credits. so really 15 mins, MAYBE actual story content.
which ironically is WORSE then the pacing of the manga. ffs
its fucking frustrating considering how good the manga storyline really is.
the anime just draws out these tiresome emotional tropes for achingly long periods.
while i love that they chose this manga. i hate the current result.
i rewatch solo leveling all the time and nearly every episode is great.

So do soldiers for the nobility get brain damage as an introduction. This guy has to see that they’re goign to get massacred. Ego aside adventurers fight monsters more often than house soldiers would. So they probably know what to do
Other comments imply that he might be trying to protect Elymas as he is still blood connected to the family. However that feels questionable. Will add that this is a big example of his father breaking his origianl oath ehwn Elymas beat his sister in that duel. This is active interference in Elymas’ life

Man says many things, but his actions during this expedition can be explained if he has been attempting to protect the exiled young master under a false pretext. Remember, in his world view the Heavy Knight class is likely to sustain heavy injuries and die.
He minimizes the enemy encounters MC has to fight in.
Rationalizes an excuse to listen to the MC’s suggestion about searching for the rare drop.
Against a level 100+ unknown enemy, tells MC to leave and report the situation instead of using the “useless adventurers” as bait to escape.
Jumps in to tank a heavy blast for the MC.
