That dipshit spent his initial contact with the MC squealing like a pig about how doomed the MC was, run away, run away…and then the next few minutes braying about how he knew so much more, and that the MC MUST JOIN HIS PARTY, or DoooOOoommm!
And then gets all jock-strap twisted (I will assume that for you guys) about a spider sneaking up on him, and actually knees down, punches the earth, screams at the sky, and goes right into Flee Mode. No assuming a defensive position, and didn’t even pull his sword. If he is any indicator, the second his whole party encounters a lvl 5 slime, the main character would be the only one left to face the wee jiggly bugger…
In closing? Stab that dipsquit, toss him to the spider, and toddle off while its busy chewing.
