My theory on how the ring works is that the “future” magic is actually taken from the very near future, so after they cast the spell and are left in a cooldown, that cooldown is the spell consistently siphoning the caster’s magic until the equivalent exchange is met.
In this case, it’s not taking from the caster’s potential future self, but rather it can be treated like the ring is just dishing out a loan of magic and absorbing its repayment over a lengthy period of the user’s time.

Not gonna lie, but a star dew valley style game where you are in a woods, while trying to maintain your grades at magic school would probably be an outstanding hit.

Janica was the final boss of the first act. Professor Glast was the final boss of the second. I expect that whatever causes it, Lucy’s end result will be closer to Janica’s than Glast’s. She’s just too adorable to get a bad end.

I feel like that ring could easily create paradoxes unless it’s more like a potential future version of yourself. Otherwise, he’s pretty much using the ring to get even stronger in the future ad infinitum.
