Rereading this, it occurs to me to be impressed with the depth of the lore that even thought through bugs in the videogame the isekai world is based on, AND the logic of how they work.
I can absolutely see that sort of “based on MP loss” programming be unable to distinguish between the casting NPC and the disappearing corpse NPC and this happening.
Huh.

Why would he need to save the elf and why isn’t she armed???
She is an assassin and likely a pretty good one at that. Sure she isn’t able to attack humans but they are fighting monsters so shouldn’t go against the slave contract.

Hopefully it is an 8 bit game random. If it was a 16bits one, he may be transported 65535km away instead of 255 ^^
