If the troops had mobile versions of the monster defense devices, they could also fight without fear of the monsters.

People who speak like that about science, are only religous believers of the religion of science and have very low level understanding of science….
Since they have to have faith in their “god”(science) to believe authority figures who speak out of their ass with no proof or evidence… only “academically agreed upon unproven groupthink” as which is subject to change in future based on new discoveries, (but they treat their current knowledge like absolute religious fact)
Therefore when they encounter something their current low level understanding of science cant explain,
Instead of wise introspection and study and personal growth, they lash out and attack claiming “it must be fake because the religion of science says so”
