That said, I think slavery as a punishment for a crime(intentionally damaging/harming a person or property) would be a-ok
I literally predicted this entire result and yet I still find it good
This chapter… was okay lots of action panels… ruined by pointless conversation that made no sense to be having between these 2 characters. Like I get the whole anime tell your life story in the arbitrary amount of time you take to throw a punch… but this was an abuse.
This was only a way to have the MC vomit his belief system for sympathy points with the elf. It felt cheap, it was cheap and the fight itself became inconsequential,
I mean since humans did make the elves slaves, they are pragmatically superior. The Mc talks about moral equivalence, in which he is right, of course but for the ones that get confused. Different groups are different, so in case of a conflict a group will inevitably be superior, given enough time. This is the law of the jungle, or absence of morals. Morals are a superimposed psychological order on the natural order (because we feel empathy, and want to reduce suffering), in which conscious intelligent beings have equal opportunity rights and obligations. A feudal system is a combo of both, weighted more heavily on made up “noble born valor”. The Mc lived in this world 60+ years and we have to assume he is intelligent (getting to reach 10th circle magic), he should know, preaching only the conclusions of his philosophy while beating someone to death is just self validating virtue signaling.
