The MC and waifu need a bit of relationship development time, because they have barely had any chance to interact. The MC still acts like they are close, even though she still doesn’t really know him, his motives, anything. It is just kinda strange for him to pull out the “let’s visit your hometown” when they barely have been interacting, and it is clear she doesn’t see him as a boyfriend or anything.
