damn i know every story will go down hill when the mc’s mental illness is kicking. after 158 chapters, maybe it’s time to say goodbye.
This is not the beginning of his EDGELORD arc, it’s the beginning of his true heroic path, a hero doesn’t spare a villain or beast because they apologized and said they’ll do better, a hero doesn’t spare evil and in doing so cause more pain the innocent.
He’s walking the path of an actual hero and not those propped up slop comics and Manhwas where the hero can do NO WRONG and he’s ALWAYS in the right, a true hero is someone who’ll do what he can no matter where he is, he won’t make the best decisions, he won’t be able to save everybody, but he’ll try his dammdest to ensure he does.
good for plot but stupid scenario with the guard imo
The writing has gone down hill since the tournament arc. This scene was lazy melodramatic writing that makes no since if you think about.

So, the guard chose the bribe from a random man, one who doesn’t look rich so probably only has that small bag of money. Over a man who is wearing literal armor with a huge sword by the way. ??? Guard has no brain or something?
Even if he was paid off, even if you say he is a corrupt guard, if I see Airen at that moment, with the armor and clothes he is wearing, I’d say F*** this bribe, I’m taking Airen’s side.
