This spreading entity has only one ability. To influence microorganisms and make use of them to render the life forms they’re connected to as “sensory organs”! As such, those plants, or rather, the Mutation Source itself, was indeed spying on Emerald Grass. For this next year, all it will do is observe it’s surrounding through the eyes of the countless forms of life it’s connecting to, hoping to merely learn about the world around it. About a month before the players return however, (or “reawaken from hibernation” as Han Xiao tells his officers,) the Mutation source will make use of it’s power to directly control the life forms it’s connected to for the first time, thus becoming the first stage of a planetary calamity.
