The Legendary Mechanic

I’m not sure how the LN is, don’t care, but this story takes a weird character turn about 50ish chapters in. Story starts off placing you in MC’s corner, rooting for him, given his starting circumstances. No, MC is not on the far spectrum of absolute moral goodness, and that was fine, cause it was about survival initially. He takes on a plot/mission to go against the organization that had him imprisoned initially, but suddenly after doing some attacks on said organization with a nation he choose to side with, MC decides to become an assassin???????

I mean why? Just for money, of which he already had plenty, and experience points? This flies in the face of the fact MC had decided that despite this world being centered on an actual game in his reality, the world was “real” for him because his life was endangered. MC starts to treat everyone not a player as NPCS, but MC even treats players as pawns he can use. MC has no idea if the “NPCs” are like him as MC is categorized as an “NPC” by the system and not a “Player.” So, there’s no evidence that the “NPCs” aren’t also sapient. Instead, author has MC go on a wild killing spree for…reasons…because MC decided to join the assassin faction as if he were playing again. It was just a weird character transition when MC hadn’t been shown to be of that personality type prior to doing it.

Just came off as weird and threw me out of the story.
