Since the author went out of his way to make him a comrade killer (ie meatshield user), he’s definitely going to die. Unlikable characters always have bad ends if they aren’t the MC.

MC was smart in finding out who his competitor was, and then a dumbass about outing himself. He could have easily left without revealing he was the other player.
