OK. So far, I really don’t get the negative omments and ratings from the main page.

• The MC doesn’t chicken out and instead, takes responsibility and does discipline the bullies head on.

• On the adverse side, this is indeed a shounen. Common sense would have been to let the ogres eat them first and get of them for good, but, well… Can’t be avoided considered the shounen side, I guess.

• Considering both his friend’s reaction of fear and the female hunter wanting to eliminate him a threat, it’s quite obvious keeping a low profile in public was the right choice, since he’s obviously been treated as monster in this new life as well, and might get either elimitated on sight or seled down some high security prison.

• You might consider stupid to try and eliminate someone whould could be Earth’s best asset for survival, but it’s just as stupid as eliminate him after his job was done in his previous life. Apparently, people are afraid of what they can’t control, especially people with political power. In fact, it’s even a cliche, but at the same time, it’s not completely nonsensical, and maybe it even happens in the real world here and now.

What I mean is, so far at least, it makes lots of sense. Of course, the betrayed saviour is cliche. If you want. But it usually makes for some of the best stories (such as Nidoume no Yuusha. The manga suddenly stopped years ago, I could find the novel which is excellent, but couldn’t find the following chapters either after a point. Either it just stopped getting translated or the author stopped it, but I can’t know. But is was extremely dark and was absolutely not a shounen, and was quite satisfying as the MC and the catgirl slaughtered all the tr*sh in inventive manners. Now I think about it, it’s not unsimilar to [Failure Frame], that recently got its first season animated, and is another masterpiece. You could also make is close to [Redo of Healer], the kinky sex apart, though :p).

Anyway, the MC isn’t really going for a revenge spree right now and it’s probably not the main topic (and it’s a shounen, so good intentions, yadda yadda, which makes it less… Spicy, I guess ?), but he doesn’t hesitate to act, all while trying to keep hidden, because that’s two cases already (the afraid friend and the S-rank hunting him down) perfectly justifying his attitude.

If he didn’t act conspicuous, the story would obviously have ended like Rooftop Sword Master, i.e. MC vs the whole world. While I don’t mind if it would be well written, well… We already have this manhwa, so what would be point ? Wouldn’t a plagiarism make it just another cliche, with magic in place of a sword from outer space ?
