Ok, here is where the manga, again, differs to the novel(which has the actual mystery part of mystery). The grandmother at the beginning said, “the white ship has lowered its anchor” instead of whatever she said in the manga. The novel had the characters setup camp for the night with seol on watch, the area was really foggy, then he suddenly sees shadowy movement in the skies, then it seemingly shrinks into the ground after ‘realizing’ someone is watching it. Seol proceeds to wake everyone up while tracking the tentacles to where it came from. The tentacles creating an illusion of anchors and the fog being a white ship, which is where the grandmother’s ramblings come from. This makes it not so obvious so as to create a reason why previous parties didn’t find the mystery.
