I was thinking:
1. The sword self-destructs because of the burden of hosting gramps soul all this time.
2. Everything goes fine
3. Nirvana backfires and the extreme amount of spiritual herbs in MC causes his body to absorb his grandfather’s spirit (patricidal cannibalism – on accident)
4. Gramps gets “released” but something stops him from obtaining nirvana, but now that he’s not a bound spirit, he slowly loses his sentience (damn that’d be one hell of a rogue spirit)
5. He’s occupied MCs body one too many times and because MCs body has no resistance or Qi, gramps soul accidentally gets melded into MC full time.
I think it’s funny that some people will complain about “I’ve seen this before”. Because it always seems that I’ve seen so many, I can’t presume what is going to happen (or I have thoughts of compounded story line scenarios).
