That king is a piece of conniving shit. He is trying to make it that he cannot just leave and have a quiet life. Though I suspect that he secretly has designs on Angie and Olivia. That might be one of the reasons why he wanted Angie to marry that stupid prince. So, he could attempt to seduce her.
