I like how they act like siblings and how rose feels a bit like usato’s mother (atleast a little bit)

Now that I think about it, Rose and Usato’s training method is similar to that used by most of the branches in the US military, breaking down and remolding oneself mentally and physically so one can become a more effective soldier. It either works or it doesn’t, there’s no in-between, which is why most wash out during the first couple weeks of PT. Heard plenty of similar stories from various family members (minus the magical healing of course), family’s been in the military since about the Second War of Independence (War of 1812).
