Saying there’s nowhere safer for her than by his side and that she knows he won’t lose just scream girlfriend, and this is in addition to in the first part of the chapter where they basically tell each other they’ll never leave each other
As expected, it was only Jinya’s greed that propelled him, the hatred his kind had for humans was just the easiest excuse for his machinations. Pity that he remained a fool to the end, but I suppose it was in character for him given his obsession and reliance on the magic he stole from Amako’s mother. I suppose he’s lucky that Usato’s a softie in the end, given his refusal to permanently (physically) harm anyone he fights (mental damage/PTSD doesn’t count). Plus of course it’s always heartwarming to see Amako’s trust and affection for Usato, even to the point that she refuses to leave his side in the middle of a battle.
Guess Amako’s vision was of the demon commanders after all, looks like we’ve got a pretty entertaining bout coming down the pipeline, especially if Kouga is stronger than Amilia was. Does make me wonder why he was asking for Usato’s name given the info they had on him already, not to mention the fact that Amako and most of the rest of the core cast call him constantly. Maybe his magic targets or uses names in some fashion? Or I could just be overanalyzing the situation again and he’s just being playfully formal before their fight.
