The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic - Chapter 83.1

First time Usato’s PTSD has been invoked for a while, good thing for him it’s always just been in a comedic fashion. Seeing his master as a beastkin feels oddly appropriate given her character (plus she does look nice like that, guess kemonomimi aesthetics are starting to grow on me). Does make me wonder just how much stronger she’d be if she had the physical advantages many of the beastkin boast on top of her hellish training, no wonder Usato was breaking out in cold sweats.

So Towa was more or less exactly what was predicted, a means of controlling and amplifying the foresight magic that Amako and her mother possess, as well as the safe removal and storage of said power. The power transferal modification is just like Jinya, putting up a faux show of loyalty to his race and creed to increase his own power, a Machiavellian to his core. Towa “going berserk” is likely the physical cause of her mother’s coma, but I’m willing to bet the main reason she hasn’t woken in all that time yet is that the magic is still in some ways tied to her. So long as Jinya has her magic, she isn’t a complete being, like she’s missing a chunk of her soul.

All that being said, it was nice to see the plan to save Amako going off without a hitch, shows just how strong a bond they’ve all managed to form with one another over the course of their travels together. Nea’s thrall powers really came in clutch, mind control may be an unsavory magic, but in limited usage it is quite a potent tool. The highlight imo was of course Amako’s own quiet admission of her budding affection for Usato at the end of the chapter. Maybe a couple years down the line she could put word to those thoughts, when she’s old enough for legal age in our dimension for one, and so Usato doesn’t freak for two.
