It’s pretty f-ing stupid how he constantly talks down about himself like he’s got zero skill.
A change from the OP alchemists that do potions that need 3 hours in 3 minutes, he’s pretty much the opposite, but with the same final outcome of being absolutely unmatchable.
I can only assume him calling himself “half baked” is because he never met any other alchemists and could only compare himself to his master? He seems a little dense in not understanding his master left because he no longer had anything he could teach his apprentice.

Im gonna throw the guild manager a bone… he doesnt seem like a bad guy… perhaps he suffered several times because of snake oil salesmen calling themselves alchemist. Maybe a family or loved one suffered because of a fake cure… or previous alchemists joining but everyone failing to complete most of their quests/jobs.
