bruh i didnt understand anything this future arc did
I think the author could have benefited more from reading more myths and some great authors. I see his attempt to try and figure out a way out of the polarity of duality in life – it’s not an easy subject to reconcile them from a duality into a trinity, the alchemical coniunctio, the motif of hieros gamos, but it’s not something that is just as readily available in the world as common sense yet.
When we got the story up to present time I could see how Fushi could reconcile the negative by uniting with Mizuha – who came from a line of females obsessed with him, and who eventually integrated (in part) with the knockers. Thus, becoming the negative feminine, to Fushi’s positive masculine. When it got into the future age, I thought that’s where the story would end up. But it ended in a stalemate, unresolved, still the forces of death and life in an eternal war. I thought that one possible ending was that Fushi would lord over the material world and that the knockers would make up a kind of heaven or subtle soul realm, and their interplay would be a round of death and rebirth – which would have been more or less a compromise between what both of them wanted and a synthesis of values. You know there’s plenty of images of gods dancing the world into creation and destruction, or a sexual interplay that both creates and destroys – I have in mind how Kali dances on the burning ground with his lover dead on the ground still with an erection, a symbolic metaphor for death and rebirth, the giving and taking of life.
Its an okay ending for what it was, but it could have been so much more. I guess we’re not there yet.
Finally I can reread the whole thing again because I had completely lost track of what’s going on after they jumped into this future arc
