It’s the “too far to quit” psychological tactic for story, I’ll see where this goes.

I don’t like this. Stories that you just kind of observe often struggle to be memorable, and feel distant to you, but stories that make you empathize with their characters and then put those characters in downright horrible situations are just not fun to read. I don’t really care that eventually the good guys will win (or gals, and sometimes they don’t even win anyway), because at the rate manga and manwha release, there’s going to be so much time before we get to the moment where they triumph, and in between, so much stuff that is unpleasant to read. I think these stories are good to read in one sitting, telling a compelling and rich narrative, but goddamn it I want the happy ending already, and we haven’t each gotten started with the first massacre, as well as all the brutalities and hard to swallow shit that’ll come after. And I’m not patient enough to wait for it’ll all to get released, so currently this story is just depressing.
