You can tell the author’s maturity from DanMachi to Wistoria. First, he hasn’t told us up front that Will will end up with Elfie, as he did with Bell & Ais (making all other romance subplots meaningless since we know the ending). But what is more, he derailed the meeting of Elfie & Will in a meaningful and appropriate way.
Will and Elfie need to remain separated narratively at this point (regardless of the end point of their relationship), but how to do it? Have the only other Magia willing to recognize Will (the kind of brute force moron who throws a death spell at you to test you) step forward. Again, makes sense based on just prior actions. Will does fit Neo better, in terms of fighting style. But then the author smartly had a fight occur in which both parties come out looking even more powerful and interesting than what appeared before. And a draw, based on potential damage leaves us open to who really is more powerful. Having the mediator of these OP Magia tell them to do Rock-Paper-Scissors throws it back to random chance and…to fate. And now Elfie loses Will based on what appears to be the hand of fate’s guidance. A guidance that has brought Will and his sword to this time.

Maybe blindfolded mage or Aaron is the traitor because he suggested Magia Vanders to fight instead of hiding in the Tower and had a grudge with Aaron?
Can I safely assume that the traitor is only among the people in the last panel?

Another thing I forgot to add is that, that monster has killed tons of magia venders in the past.
Also, This is another issue with manga power scalings. The MC defeated a monster from level 40. And it wasn’t just one at that level. It was one that had absorbed the power of hundreds of level 25 to 30 monsters, meaning that monster scales at least to Magia Vanders level, so let’s imagine his final scaling is like level 44. (The 2nd highest a Magia Vander has gone on the tower is floor 48, which is that lightening guy). So realistically speaking, current MC at full power should be able to threaten a Magia Vender, but that’s if he gets fully charged by someone.
I mean, I kind of understand. The Majia Vendars are mostly 16-year-olds or there about. So, Elfie and that elf girl are just 16-year-old girls in love. Well, the point is they’re all very young. Maybe the elf might be slightly older. That explains why they need the highest authority to be an adult. You can’t have kids running the world, because they practically run the world. As the highest authorities. (they probably have a rule that assigns the highest authority to the eldest among them).
I get why you didn’t want mc to be with his girl. Alas it doesn’t make sense story wise. He gets to choose. He would choose her period. The duel didn’t matter. Nothing the lighting guy said would matter. He was free to select his faction. You want the readers to believe he went years of suffering to be by her side to just say fuck it. All his effort and dedication was to be by her side. Nothing would ever change his mind. You should of came up with different way to get him with the lighting guy. I mean the mc didn’t even get to choose. The whole thing was just a waste. Is he not smart enough to remember he can choose where he wants to be? Just my opinion but he didn’t get to select the faction he wanted. Seems like the past chapters up too this was just a waste of time.
