In FF terms, he is merely using Thunder the level 1 spell instead of Thundara (level 2) , Thundaga (level 3) or Thundaja (level 4).
but because he chained 20 combos of Thunder (level 1) spells together, the efficacy is = 10 Thundaja spells, whilst using half the mana costs.
