No one’s gonna believe that cook when he tells them poor guy

I think i know why this series is so gratifying..
Firstly the characters themselves are just so alive and the world feels completely lived in.
But at the same time even in these small moments the plot is still progressing in a way.
This chapter set up the aftermath of allying with the cult leader and allowed MC and his dad to discuss. Furthermore the dialogue gives further insights to why Dad let all this happen in the first place, making it easier to strike both of them down at once if one of them messes up.

Such short dialogue already gives so many answers and it even serves as a father son moment AND also shows how much the Dad has changed since chapter 1 with how Dad being such a powerful man doesnt mind telling an innkeeper his food was good.

And to have even further nuance, theres so many throwbacks, to previous chapter that doesnt seem out of place. The world continues on and little details like going around the central plains travelling was a a small promise made that wont be forgotten. It is clear Dad genuinely wishes that one day they can do just that, travel thebworld with our MC.

Interactions like these humanizes our MC, and his dad. His dad being unable to visit inns like these for so long only shows how out of touch the Dad has been for so long and that hes finally getting to experience life instead of just being an absolute power.

Am i reading too much into this? absolutely not the writer probably thought 10x harder and had more detail than i could ever have
