I know this story, maybe under a a different title ? If it’s that one, then he should actually have the staff’s stuff (lol) embedded inside a sword so he can have both functions at the same time…
60 cm staff, so about 3.7 bananas (average banana is about 17cm and no I’m not giving you the imperial, metric ftw).
For that lvl of amusement, I would fashion the tiny staff/stick to look like either Sailor Moon’s or Star Butterfly’s Fruity Wands. Whichever is tackier. then hold a straight and serious face when i convince him THIS is what you need to prosper in the adventurer trade. I am not certain i could maintain a straight face, and may quietly pee a little if he falls for it.

If you compare the 60cm staff she’s holding to her height, the magician is maybe 1m tall.

The staffs didn’t have an equivalent length in bananas… how am I supposed to know how long they are? 
Is there some rule that the staff must be in his hand?
Why not just use a short staff as the handle of the sword, can just turn the sword to cast

OK, I knew it, and other readers commenting here they knew this story were indeed right.
It was previously published as “Isekai Cheat Magic Swordsman” and the last chapter I’ve read was only the 15th.
I couldn’t find any under this name anymore, except for a French translation on Scan-Manga (up to chapter 17 only).
The last link I had was on Manganelo (now down), chapter 15 as I said, and it was back on February 2022 !
I guess it was a simplfied title translation from the original Japanese title, “Isekai Ten’ishita Node Cheat wo Ikashite Mahou Kenshi Yaru Koto ni Suru”.
The mentioned authors are the same, so it’s really this one… Hence why it felt so familiar to lots of readers here.
I guess there’s now a more active translation team at work… At least I hope so !
