“Do former murderers have the right to be good people?” Sure, that idea is fine, but it has the unfortunate implication that once you decide you’re a “former” murderer, you can ignore your own past behaviour and remodel yourself however you want.
It doesn’t really work in Dazai’s case, because he’s still a cruel SOB master manipulator who will exploit, use up and crush people when convenient (like Akutagawa) while being all smiles amongst his friends.
