I’m not sure if the manga is cutting scenes out, but I distinctly remember a flashback in the anime to Dazai in the Mafia days where he told Akutagawa that he was too weak, and he was worthless without a powerful ability. And then he shot him point blank in the head, saying something like “if you can’t survive this, you might as well be dead.”
…So Akutagawa isn’t really to blame for this mentality. Dazai just crushed his mind.
Btw: Dazai also told Akutagawa he was tr*sh just earlier on in the manga, so calling that “acknowledgment” is really pushing it.
