Literal plot armor, like two chapters in a row! 
Personally i disslike stories where the power disparity between ordinary people and the heroes/villains is on pair of superhero comics or even more. The world described is basically one where gods walk among mortals. The name “Dark priests” don’t make them justice, a more accurate descriptive title would be order of the fallen demigods. Not sure if its a translation issue.
