Dice: The Cube That Changes Everything

It is good—really good, maybe—but not peak or masterpiece. The first thing I have to say about this manhwa is that the author handles most of the conflicts really well, especially the final fight. Rarely did I feel like it was plot armor. The story is nice, it has depth and gives you a lot to think about when it works, but the message overall is not too deep, not Dostoyevsky deep or Schopenhauer deep anyway. Plot twists are here and there, and occasionally even drop your jaw for its interesting development. The authors planted a lot of details while not obvious, they always surprised me for not noticing them sooner. Characters have their flaws but most of the time they are aware of them and some are even willing to embrace them. Besides very minor characters, the rest are not brain-dead and can really think for themselves so that is a huge plus if you are sick of this archetype.

These are some of the points that are neither a con nor a pro:

1. While some of them can appear to be smart or even intelligent at times they are not exactly sharp or cunning, so don’t expect much of 200 IQ move in this manhwa.
2. The art is okay, not ugly, but nothing for you to be in awe of either.

That’s pretty much most of the pros, or at least all that come to the top of my head anyway. Now for the cons. Pacing is not exactly drag or slog, many of them are necessary for the conclusion or setups that work toward the climax. But there will be moments where it feels like it has been going on forever and bores you out of your mind. Action sequences range from okay to somewhat decent at best. And here comes what I consider to be the biggest flaw of this manhwa. That being none of the characters is likable, personality-wise, even if you understand their motivation and can sympathize with them, and trust me when I say that the average readers will find it very hard to do so. It is difficult to read a story where there is no one for you to root for, no one for you to be excited over their appearance, and no one to tickle your dopamine receptors, thus no enjoying that sweet release that you long for. And no power trip either so don’t bother looking for that in here.
To sum up the experience after reading this, it would be something that is “Interesting overall, yet dull and unengaging”. Landing itself with a low 8.2/10 rating (anything below the 0.5 mark is considered low), with a final note “Not recommended for casual readers, proceed with caution”
