Summary

Glory is achieved over the roar of cannon fire, and the purpose of peacetime is to be ready for the next conflict.
Balzer had little trouble advancing in rank as a soldier in a country with a strong military. His career, however, suddenly changes when he is appointed as an advisor at a military school in a nearby allying country. Can Major Balzer be able to prevail over the other troops, his charges, and the civilians despite having little military strength at his disposal, dealing with inexperienced students, and trying to quell hostility to firearms among the civilians?

Most logically, this prior intelligence and political move. I don’t want to talk about the army and politics much, but about what I was enjoying the most. Is how the character is ambitious and their sights. No one is a bad person or a good person. War is war.

A disgusting tale of military glorification…is how one may describe it if they were soulless and incredibly boring.

We’ve got troop tactics, technological and military development, recognition of glorious logistics, political plots and machinations, war crimes, manipulation of civilians, one damn bastard with an eyepatch who won’t die and I really wish he would, democratization, coups, and more! Maybe we’ll have tanks by chapter 150. This is sort of like Tanya (a manga I greatly enjoy), but with an appropriate protagonist, no magic, and more politics, but seemingly just as much war.

Overall I’d say, it’s quite good and certainly has my stamp of approval. And always remember, war is hell as well as a damn good story.
