The guard was, in fact, not strong at all. 
Seriously the disparity in strength between guards and assassins is so unbelievably huge, that I’m surprised the Assassin’s guild doesn’t dominate the world yet.
As always the anime is done and manga is on hold for some reason. Just like so many manga’s out there that have anime for those manga’s the anime ends and the manga ends up on hold. Of course some manga have finished after the anime ended which is good to find out but this series is like many other’s that have an anime that ended and the manga?????? 
I think this is going to be stopped at some point with the anime being so far ahead now.
