It’s not a very hardcore labour contract, you can be sold when you’re a slave. You’re bound to your “owner” by magic. you’re forced to constantly wear a mark of your enslavement.
Author just wanted a reason to excuse slavery.
This just raises more questions whos monitoring the contracts ?

Between being sentence to prison for life and being a slave, I would rather be a slave… Not that I would be a good one, but at least there’s hope of different “scenery” I can see by being a slave compared to the same sh*t when you go to prison … Imagine more than 20 years… I mean I’m kinda reclusive person and mostly stay at home, but I would still like to go to different store and places just to remove that bored feeling. So hell no I would choose 20+ years in prison, nah I don’t think I can stay there for more than a week let alone 20+ years.
