The issue of material value > value of the coin could also be solved by making smaller coins. The 1 cent coin is smaller than the 2 cent coint which is smaller than the 5 cent coin.

This entire coinage description makes no sense. Since when does the quality of the engravings on a coin have anything to do with the value? Either the value of the coin is the metal it’s made of (or can be exchanged for), or it’s a fiat currency no different that paper. In neither case does the value change based on appearance! Complicated designs exist primarily to make it difficult to counterfeit.
I mean, you can show off the ‘technology’ of your country with fancy coins and rare alloys, but no one but a collector would increase the value because of that.
MC has all sorts of magic nonsense and still has a brick wall for barring entry? Magic barrier.
