Summary
A brief description of the NOBLESSE manga:
Noblesse is actually a name for French nobles, but Cadis Etrama Di Raizel is a noblesse, and for completely different reasons. He doesn’t come from this world because he really isn’t, because he is one of the most powerful and oldest vampires. Awakened from a sleep of 820 years, he meets his faithful servant Frankenstein again and through his noble, courageous and fair-minded behaviour, begins to gather new friends around him, with whom he repeatedly gets caught between the fronts of criminal machinations. Although he is not a human being, one feels a great connection between Rai and the people he is surrounded by and to whom he offers his help. The Manhwa Noblesse tells the story of an extraordinary vampire and just as extraordinary people, always interrupted by fights for life and death with a lot of humour, but also with great seriousness.

Frankenstein
The comradrie and the amazing character development and of course my man Frankie are the only reasons I’m still here. Not even for Raizel.
The Story’s Good, But The Character Designs...
Oh look… another big, blocky, violent, black guy who’s the villain. I suppose I should count myself lucky that this one at least doesn’t have clown lips ?
But seriously, None of the good guys can be dark-skinned? We’ve had different nationalities a part of the good guys’ team, but none of them brown or Black? Or how about this… a brown or Black woman? Just maybe? I can’t remember ever seeing one of them even on the villain’s side.
Ugh
They also don’t give any other characters lips…But to one black guy in the scene has clown lips… ?
They needed to have never included black people in their work or at least done some research into how to draw us without being racist caricatures…
Why?
Can this manga artist really only draw one kind of Black person? All these other characters vary in style and beauty, but all the Black characters are big, blocky, angry and violent males… I keep trying to give the, the benefit of the doubt, but considering how S. Koreans treat those with tan skin in their country anyway, it’s been getting more difficult.
