now i understand, they talked about mortals and trascendent witches, so mortals were humans and transcendent were elfs

Hmm if the church just wanted witches as consumables for their God punish army instead of persecuting them forcing them into hiding and not cultivating their magic why didnt they just make them venerated instead and call those to be used for gods punishment soldiers some sort of holy ritual and keep useful witches away from being sacrificed veneration them would encourage them to show up and centralize in the church for easier manipulation and improvement
