For anyone wanting to dig further, the “Whatever I can do, others can also do” is called the “mirror imaging bias”, where people project their own mindset and beliefs onto others. This is sometimes a problem because someone can say one thing, and someone else can entirely misinterpret the message, and they’ll both believe that their understanding is correct, even if they’re both different.

For example, if you shouted “The doorbell’s ringing”, someone else might think that you’d be going up to get it, but you’d think that you were telling them to get the door, and both of you would sit in awkward silence thinking that the other person would get the door because none of you expected to have different thought patterns. You expected that saying it implied that you wanted the other person to get the door, but they thought it implied you were going to get the door, as you were the one calling it out.
