It’s weird to see a mother sending their kids to fight monster. I mean they train themselves even if they’re Genius, without proper technique they’ll be nothing but street thugs. At least make it believable about why she even provided those.
Why she’s not fighting or running away. Where is other adventures? Where’s the knights or nobles who rule that area?

By definition, a character bound to a ley line should be able to flee along that line.

Additionally, I’m kind of laughing at “Did you figure out how to use yours?”, as Roddy is staring dumbfounded at his swords, as if he’s still not quite sure how to use a sword.

Bad end and time skip incoming? (Don’t read if you don’t want to know the details of my speculation)

Bad end: Character development by tragic past (future at this point). Mom dies and village gets destroyed.
But that also triggers growth/change in both characters.
Either dark hair or both will fight the … stirm/whatever and become a hero.
Light hair might become a villain opposing dark hair.

Time skip: After the youth arc played out and the destruction of the village, the next time we see the one on the hero path, he will be an adult.
