I have not seen this kind of xxx in a long time — is the most overused old mentor x young MC trope. and this dude has repeated that kind of dialogue almost five times in 2-3 chapters now.
we get it, MC is unique.
Old man is getting excited after seeing vlad display his skill( i did not mean that you perverts). Maybe he is a tutor arranged by the mother

I didn’t even notice I caught up 
Kid, one does not simply clashing with old man’s rusty sword, its rust crumbs shall fall everywhere. Hopefully he has WD-40 or any rust remover.
One of the best chars creation and development out there, all chars feel so real and alive, really love it.
