Frankly, it starts as quite generic, but I like the fact this series is more down to earth than others in the same genre. I’m not talking about powers and magic, but most of the characters act rationally according to their own interests, starting with the MC.
He’s not a bad guy, but he’s still a young protagonist that can’t hold the candle to any elders which seems logical. As such, he’s not cocky and tries to grow stronger within the limited frame he has. Other series would have already have the MC beat every guy one after the other.
He’s also not a scumbag, and while there are obviously greedy villains, but at least not everyone is a unidimensional jerk.
Honestly a good read.
