Summary
A brief description of the manhwa The Bastard of National Tax Service:
The protagonist ‘Shin Jaehyun’, was called a traitor and lost his job because he reported corruption in his company. He did not become downtrodden and set his goals on becoming a tax official, but due to his unstable family situation, he started wavering.
A ‘fated encounter’ provides a helping hand to him, and for the one becoming a NTS thug in the future, holds a sword for the first time. “No matter who you are or where you are, if you are a tax evader, I will find you.”

Season 2 – early
Jaehyeon Shin is in a coma. That’s the conclusion I reached when I realized this series wasn’t going to stop ballooning his ego with weird B-plots about how famous and powerful he is. This series is a laugh riot, with a character acting like a white knight police officer about taxes, everyone in Korea caring about who’s getting audited, and a bad guy whose sole purpose is to be the Joker to Jaehyeon Shin. The Tax Reaper, AKA The Bastard of National Tax Service, AKA National Tax Service Thug, once you get past the boring stuff, is a little fun.
Aside from that, I think we should all stop here. There’s more boring stuff to come because now politics are involved. Manhwa’s always feel like they’re written by teenagers, for teenagers. So you’ll have to forgive me for knowing that a kid writing political drama can only feel hollow, with fake civil wars, dramatic twists that change nothing, and the ending always being someone gets arrested.
I should also mention the tax confrontations are less… artful this season, which leaves us with an MC arresting people who are too hysterical to actually be villains, while hassled by news reporters for doing such a good job.
Finally, there are the MC’s supporters and backers, then his enemies. I think the author is spending too much time at his office reading scandal articles because I didn’t think there would be even more names, companies, and business titles to memorize. I don’t talk about the series’ power system, because I’m not familiar with Korean politics, but even I can call bullsh!t on every character being moved or motivated by a higher rank politician. Hierarchies serve the role of incentive, not a replacement for free will. I can’t take anything seriously if everyone’s fallback is status or if there is always a higher-up guy who’s going to take care of the problem.
I already said not to take this series seriously, but as it becomes more… simplified to read, I think even a casual reader will become bored of the foregone conclusion. The Tax Reaper was a joke, but now it’s less of a funny joke and more of one that would put me to sleep. That’s why I said Shin was in a coma, because something this silly can’t be considered real, but anything this dull and stupid isn’t worth dreaming about.
ACAB applies to this dude aswell…
FIlthy, I have no sympathy for the mc. Just mind your dam business, it’s not murder or rape and mc be here snitching out people and ruining their lives when they didnt do jack to mc. Dropped immediately after 3ish chapters
I don’t care what kind of Manhwa the IRS makes, I’m not paying taxes
i hate taxes. 1 star.
Basically its alternative title would be
“I want to work as an IRS official”
