tbh I get that mad scientist.
This is a talent vs effort trope.
I mean imagine training all ur life to be a mage and putting a ton of effort in,
and some rando who was born with “talent” just surpasses u cause of it.
they are trying to make a drug that will even out that unfair discrepancy,
and even if it does have side effects, no-one has died yet except for the teacher who probably overdosed. But u could argue that it’s his fault cause he took too much, and everything is a poison if u eat/drink enough of it. The teacher at the end even saved the student and they are researching how to get rid of the side-effects.
However, knowing manhwas they will turn out to be super evil cause they are working with a “evil” demon and that they are trying to upset the status-quo. MC will probably get involved and wipe them out.
Personally, I am partial to the effort POV cause that means that anyone no matter if they are rich, poor, royalty, or peasants can get to the top. not because they were randomly born with talent, but because they put in the effort.
